St. Jude Children's Hospital
St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital has been the official philanthropic partner of Lambda Theta Alpha since 2010. LTA chapters across the country raise funds and awareness for St. Jude through campus and community events. Many LTA chapters host a signature event, such as the LTA Softball Tournament each year.
St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly.
St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Ranked the No. 1 pediatric cancer hospital by Parents magazine and the No. 1 childrens cancer hospital by U.S. News & World Report, St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children.

Tackling the Issue
Changing Attitudes through Mentoring, Belief and Inspiration for Opportunity (C.A.M.B.I.O) is a program geared to empower high school students by presenting educational workshops related to higher education, political awareness and empowerment. One of our main goals is to make the students realize that they should not feel contempt with the status quo. It is not uncommon for students that live in areas such as Watts or South Central Los Angeles to believe that the way their school is run, or the dynamics of their neighborhood is the norm. Many times, they are unaware of the differences between someone living in a suburban neighborhood as compared to someone living in an inner city until someone brings it to their attention.
This year we are working with Alliance Patti & Peter Neuwirth Leadership Academy in South Los Angeles. We visit Alliance Patti & Peter Neuwirth Leadership Academy once a week after school. The program volunteers have provided workshops and taught the students about things such as the A-G requirements, options after high school, prominent historical events, self-growth, and social change. Also, the students have had the chance to experience a small glimpse of what college life is really like when they get to spend a day at the University of California, Los Angeles. During this day, there are also workshops, tours, and community service events that the students and sisters take part in.
